Upon officers arrival they found a Marangi Disposal garbage truck turned on its side. The initial investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle parked the truck and left it. The accident occurred approximately ¼ mile from where Johnson took the truck. Johnson was removed from the scene by ambulance for back pain. He was treated at Good Samaritan Hospital and released. Sherwood Ridge Rd. was closed for a short time while the truck was up righted. Upon further investigation it was learned that Mr. Johnson’s driving privileges in New York were revoked at the time of the accident. According to representatives from Marangi Disposal, Mr. Johnson was well aware he was not to be driving any of their vehicles.
Mr. Johnson was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation 2nd  degree (a misdemeanor in the Vehicle and Traffic Law) along with Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree (a misdemeanor in the Penal Law). Johnson was brought before Judge Schoenberger of the Ramapo Justice Court. Bail was set at $3,500 dollars. Johnson is due back in Ramapo Justice Court on 6/14/11 at 2; 00pm.
