DURHAM, NC – Pointstreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, has selected Worcester Tornadoes INF Nick Salotti and LHP Zach Zuercher as the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week.Salotti hit .367 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in eight games. The resident of Palm Desert, CA had 11 hits in 30 at-bats along with a .394 on-base percentage and a .733 slugging percentage. In Saturday’s 6-1 win over the Pittsfield Colonials, Salotti went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. On the season, Salotti is batting .283 with four home runs and 23 RBIs.
Zuercher tossed 13 scoreless innings in two starts this past week. He walked two batters and gave up six hits along with fanning 12 batters. Zuercher had an opponents batting average of .143. On the year, the Warwick, RI resident is 5-2 with a 3.19 ERA. He is second in the Can-Am in wins and fourth in strikeouts with 35.
