Michael Chavis, Age 33 of Brooklyn, NY was sentenced June 15, 2011, before New York State Supreme Court Justice William A. Kelly to a state prison term of 1 ½ to 3 years after pleading guilty to Criminal Possession of a Stolen Property in the 4th Degree.
District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about September 7, 2010 at approximately 6:00 am, the defendant stole various pharmaceutical items from CVS located on North Middletown Road, Pearl River. The items totaled $1,741.00. The defendant was captured on the store’s surveillance camera and Orangetown Police responded.
Also, on September 7, 2010 at approximately 7:40 am, the defendant entered the Spring Valley/Chestnut Ridge CVS located on Old Nyack Turnpike in the Town of Ramapo with two other individuals. The defendant walked out of the CVS with many items without paying. The stolen items totaled $1453.00. The defendant was later located and found to be in possession of all the items stolen from the CVS.
