Royster, Mehlich Earn Weekly Awards



Brockton OF Hit Five Home Runs; Newark Closer Collected Three Saves

DURHAM, NC - The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has selected Brockton Rox OF Ryan Royster and Newark Bears RHP Mikey Mehlich as the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week.


Royster hit .370 with five home runs and eight RBIs in seven games. He also scored six runs, collected 10 hits and had a slugging percentage of 1.000. Royster launched three of the home runs in the 8-6 loss to Quebec this past Tuesday. On the season, the Junction City, OR resident is hitting .269 with seven home runs and 16 RBIs. He leads the Can-Am in home runs and is tied for second in RBIs.

Mehlich collected three saves in five appearances this past week. He did not allow a run while giving up two hits and two walks. Mehlich fanned three batters and had an opponents batting average of .125. The Casselberry, FL resident is currently second in the league in saves with four.
