Brachold, Smith Collect Weekly Awards: Second Consecutive Week Rox and Bears win Player of the Week Honors

DURHAM, NC - The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has selected Brockton Rox OF Keith Brachold and Newark Bears LHP Alex Smith as the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week.

In six games, Brachold batted .500 with three home runs and 15 RBIs. The resident of Franklin, MA scored nine runs, collected 14 hits and stole one base. He also had on-base percentage of .533 and a slugging percentage of .964. Brachold is tied for first in the Can-Am in RBIs (23) and tied for second in home runs (6).

Smith tossed seven shutout innings in the 6-1 victory over the Worcester Tornadoes this past Wednesday. He allowed four hits and five walks with striking out two batters. The Virginia Beach, VA resident is a perfect 3-0 on the season with an earned run average of 2.52. Smith is currently tied for second in the league in wins and is fifth in ERA.
