Rockland County District Attorneys Office: Robbery Sentence


Edward Itchkawitz, Age 48 of Poughkeepsie, NY was sentenced June 15, 2011, before New York State Supreme Court Justice William A. Kelly to a state prison term of 2 to 4 years after pleading guilty to Robbery in the 3rd Degree.

District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about September 4, 2010 at approximately 3:30 pm, in the parking lot of the Shoprite supermarket at 243 Route 59, West Nyack, NY, forcibly stole the victim’s purse. On the same date, at approximately 3:45 pm, the defendant used the victim’s Visa credit card account to purchase goods at the Shell Gas Station located at 372 South Broadway, Tarrytown, NY.  The defendant also had his girlfriend arrange for a man in Tarrytown to cash one of the victim’s personal checks for $500.00 at the Tarrytown Station Chase Bank branch. Members of the Town of Clarkstown Police Department, conducted an investigation throughout Rockland, Westchester, and Orange counties, and with assistance from New York State Police, were able to arrest the defendant.
