Ten Suffern High School Graduates Awarded $17,500 in Suffern Rotary Scholarships

Suffern, NY, June 21, 2011: A favorite event of the Suffern Rotary Club is their annual scholarship awards luncheon.  This year ten deserving Suffern High School graduates and their families will be guests of honor at the July 7th celebration at Marcello’s Ristorante in downtown Suffern.

“The $17,500 worth of scholarships memorialize people who have given of themselves in service to the Suffern-area community”, says Rotarian Walt Lipson.  Mr. Lipson had the pleasure to attend Suffern High School’s senior ceremonies just weeks ago and to congratulate each recipient in front of a larger audience of their peers.

This ample contribution of educational dollars makes it the largest in the school district, a fact that the Rotary is grateful to fulfill.  Founded in 1927, the Suffern Rotary Club has a long history of supporting the community with good works and fundraising.  Their intention is “Service Above Self” with a focus on local small business, education and fellow nonprofits, while still giving generously of their time and finances to back international initiatives.  The club meets every Thursday at 12:15PM at Marcello’s.
