The Rockland Business Association held an after hours event at Provident Bank Park for members of the RBA as well as members of the various Chambers of Commerce around the county.

The event, which served as both a social event and a tune up for concession and technical staff, drew more than 300 people to enjoy ballpark fare right off the menu and tours of the state-of-the-art facility.
Crews were getting the field ready for play and putting finishing touches on the park which opens with pre-game festivities and a sold-out crowd tomorrow at 5:30pm.
The Dugout of Dreams is ready adjacent to the Boulders, equipment was being hooked up in the Loge boxes and final preparations were being made to the luxury suites. It’s amazing just how much progress has been made during the past four weeks.
The comments about the stadium were overwhelmingly positive with a few naysayers mixed into the crowd. Many were surprised that the Town was able to build such a fantastic stadium in such a short period of time.
Many of the visitors inquired about tickets or the possibility of holding corporate events during the season which ends in September.
As for the ballpark fare, it’s surprisingly good. The bread is supplied by Rockland Bakery and the Angus Cheeseburger that I had was cooked properly, juicy and sizable. With wide concourses, getting to and from the concessions will be easy even with a capacity crowd.
There were a few minor delays at the concession stand but it will probably be easier with a larger crowd to serve as more of each menu item with already be on hand and food items will move much more quickly. For a first dry run, concessionaire Ovation earns an A for quality, taste and the friendliness of their staff.
According to RBA Vice President Roger Scheiber, the event was one of the most successful after-hours event in recent memory and the RBA plans to sponsor this type of event in the future.
