Hugo A. Ramirez Amaya was indicted on June 15, 2011 by a Rockland County Grand Jury for the crime of Driving While Intoxicated as a Felony.
District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about December 17, 2010 at approximately 8:38 p.m., defendant was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Dutch Lane in the Village of Spring Valley. Members of the Spring Valley Police Department respond to the scene and observe defendant seated behind the wheel of the vehicle with the keys in the ignition and the motor running. Upon approaching defendant, officer observed defendant to be in an intoxicated condition as evinced by the odor of an alcoholic beverage, glassy eyes and impaired speech and impaired motor coordination. The defendant failed three sobriety tests and refused a the chemical test.
The defendant had previously pled guilty to DWI in January, 2005 in the Town of Ramapo.
