Neil Simon's 'Chapter Two' to Benefit Suffern High School Scholarship Fund


Suffern, NY, May 25, 2011: Saturday afternoon, June 18th, the Suffern Rotary Club will host a benefit performance of Neil Simon’s “Chapter Two” for their Suffern High School scholarship fund at the Antrim Playhouse. This event will be performed by the Antrim Players in the Tom France Theater. 

Tom France was a long-standing, active member of both the Rotary and Antrim.  To honor young, dedicated people is befittingof Tom’s volunteerism within Suffern and all of Rockland County.  As is written on the Antrim Playhouse website, “More than anyone before him (Tom France) or after him, this was the man who did it all, and was so loved and admired by all who met him.”  Tom served as Antrim Playhouse’s president, board member, director, house manager and even actor.

 The Antrim Playhouse is located at 15 Spook Rock Road in Wesley Hills, NY.  “Chapter Two” begins at 2PM Saturday, and is the only scheduled Saturday afternoon performance of its run.  Directed by Joan Brock, “Chapter Two” has Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8PM from June 10th to June 25th.  Sunday afternoon 2PM shows will run June 12th, 19th, and 26th
“Chapter Two” is Neil Simon’s semi-autobiographical, romantic comedyabout a widowed writer and a soap opera actress.  The play premiered in 1977 and was then adapted into a film directed by Robert Moore, starring James Caan and Marsha Mason. 

Founded in 1927, the Suffern Rotary Club has a long history of supporting the community with good works and fundraising.  Their intention is “Service Above Self” with a focus on local small business, education and fellow nonprofits, while still giving generously of their time and finances to back international initiatives.  The club meets every Thursday at 12:15PM at Marcello’s Restaurant in downtown Suffern, NY.
