Ramapo Police Department: Robbery Arrest


On 07/03/11 at approximately 6:40 am, Ramapo Police responded to 292 North Main Street in the Hillcrest area of Town for a report of a robbery.  Responding Officers were advised by a 52 year old male victim that he had stopped at a service station to put air into his vehicles tire, when a male subject approached pushed him down and jumped into his car and attempted to drive off.  The subject identified as Edwin Diaz-Perez age 20 of Spring Valley, crashed the 1998 Toyota into a parked vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.  He was immediately apprehended and charged with the following:
Robbery in the 2nd degree- Felony
Unauthorized use of a vehicle in the 1st degree - Felony
Grand larceny 4th degree - Felony
Criminal possession of stolen property 4th degree- Misdemeanor
Driving while intoxicated - Misdemeanor
False personation - Misdemeanor

No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

The defendant was arraigned by Airmont Village Justice Goldman and remanded to Rockland County Jail on $50,000.00 bail.
