Rocket Launch is a Blast for Campers at RCC Kids College


RocketLaunchUp1604.jpgRamapo, NY – Awesome Science, one of the summer programs for children at Rockland Community College, has a special event scheduled for campers at 10 am this Friday. Weather permitting; they will each be launching the rockets they built, behind the RCC Fieldhouse, near the tennis courts, on campus at 145 College Rd, Suffern.

There are two sessions of summer programs for children at RCC, the first session runs from July 5 – July 22; with different activities during the day, from 9 am to 4 pm. Arrangements can be made for extended hours if necessary. There is still time to sign up for the second session, which runs from July 25 – August 12.

All programs are run by qualified leaders; Awesome Science specialists are Brian Malin, a certified teacher and adjunct faculty at RCC, and Kristen Farulla, who is finishing a Masters of Education program. Emil Willis, Director of the Kids College summer program at RCC says, “In our Awesome Science program we try to challenge students by providing them with hands-on experiences to help them internalize the various concepts.”
Awesome Science projects include engineering, biology, forensics, geology and chemistry, with a focus on teamwork and learning to look at the world through a scientific lens.  Other Kids College programs include Computer Camp, Art Institute, Performing Arts, Sports, and afternoon games and activities.
