Ward, Moran – Can-Am Players of the Week: Newark INF Slugged .880; Pittsfield Righty Had .097 Opponent Batting Avg.


Ward - 2011.jpgDURHAM, NC – Pointstreak, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, has selected Newark Bears INF Daryle Ward and Pittsfield Colonials RHP Patrick Moran as the Pointstreak Batter and Pitcher of the Week.

Ward batted .320 with four home runs and 13 RBIs in seven games. The Riverside, CA resident collected eight hits, scored seven runs and walked two times. He also had a .367 on-base percentage to go along with a slugging percentage of .880. On the season, Ward is hitting .310 with 10 home runs and 42 RBIs. He is tied for fourth in the league in RBIs.

Moran tossed 8 1/3 solid innings in the 4-2 win over the Rockland Boulders Saturday. The resident of Winterport, ME gave up one earned run on only three hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. His opponents batting average was a miniscule .097. Moran is 5-3 on the season with an earned run average of 4.78.
