Rockland Community College President Cliff L. Wood’s Recent Publication

Dr. Cliff L. Wood.jpgRamapo, NY – A recent publication by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) includes a chapter written by Rockland Community College President, Cliff L. Wood. The chapter, “Preparing for a Presidency, Even If It Isn’t Your Goal,” recounts some of the earliest experiences in his college administration career. His engaging narrative illustrates how important those initial observations and lessons were, and how they continue to influence his vision of effective educational leadership that best serves the needs of college students.

The book, Exceptional Senior Student Affairs Administrator's Leadership Strategies and Competencies for Success, is a compilation of essays, written by several successful leaders in education, and edited by Gwendolyn Jordan Dungy and Shannon E. Ellis. Other publications by Dr. Wood include:  "Preparing Adults for Careers in Teaching" (2006); "Making the Case for Amending the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002" (2006); and the 1995 publication of Institutionalizing Curriculum Change in Creating an Inclusive Curriculum, by Teachers College Press, Columbia University.
As an active and dynamic advocate for students and their needs, Dr. Wood is a leader among educators in New York State. He was recently re-elected for a second term as President of the New York Community College Association of Presidents (NYCCAP), a post he has held since 2009.

Dr. Wood came to Rockland County and assumed the leadership of RCC in 2004.  He has been extraordinarily dedicated to community service and the needs of people and families in Rockland County. He is a Life Member of the NAACP, has won numerous community honors and awards, and has served on the boards of: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rockland County, Good Samaritan Hospital, the Rockland Economic Development Corporation, and was a Trustee of the Holocaust Museum and Study Center, among other commitments.
