Around the CanAm League July 7, 2011

Pittsfield 6, Newark 3
After both teams went scoreless through the first two frames, Pittsfield scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning en route to a 6-3 win against Newark. In the third, first baseman Angel Molina scored a two-RBI double, and third baseman Johnny Welch followed with a two-run homer. Pittsfield scored again in the next inning when Molina batted in two more runs. Newark scored a run in the fifth inning and two more in the eighth, but it wasn’t enough to come back from the deficit. Pittsfield had seven hits in the game, and Molina led with two hits, four RBI and one run in four at-bats. Second baseman Danny Bomback chipped in two hits and two runs for the Colonials. Newark was led by designated hitter Eric McGee, who recorded three hits, one RBI and one run in four at-bats. David Qualben earned his third win of the season, allowing five hits, three runs and striking out seven in eight innings pitched.
Brockton 15, New York 2
Nine different Rox knocked in at least one run, as Brockton beat New York 15-2 at Campanelli Stadium. Brockton scored 13 runs in the seventh and eighth innings alone, and the Rox hit three home runs in the game. The Federals were scoreless for the first five frames before center fielder Kyle Gerhard and second baseman Alex Sumner batted in New York’s only two runs. Four different Rox registered multiple hits in the game, and right fielder Keith Brachold led with three hits, two runs and two RBI in five at-bats. Designated hitter Trey Hernandez batted in three runs for Brockton.  New York recorded just six total hits in the game, and Gerhard was the only Federal to register more than one. Daniel Schmidt, now 1-0 on the season, earned his first win by allowing no hits, no runs and striking out none in .1 innings pitched.
Quebec 3, New Jersey 2 (12 innings)
New Jersey pitcher Jared Locke walked catcher Patrick DAoust in the bottom of the 12th inning to allow Quebec third baseman Robert Wagner to score the winning run and help the Capitales earn a 3-2 victory at Le Stade Municipal Stadium. Quebec scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning when designated hitter Pete Laforest hit a two-run homer. New Jersey scored once in the third and once in the sixth to tie the score at two and bring the game into extra innings. Two Jackals recorded multiple hits in the game, and center fielder Chris White led New Jersey with two hits and two runs in three at-bats.  Quebec had 11 hits, and both Wagner and first baseman Rene Leveret led the Capitales with two hits and one run in five at-bats. Locke recorded his second loss of the season in the game despite facing just two batters, and Guillaume Duguay earned his third win of the season, allowing just one hit and no runs in one inning pitched.
Rockland 4, Worcester 2
Winning pitcher Bobby Blevins, now 4-2 on the season, struck out eight Worcester batters in 6.2 innings pitched to help Rockland cruise to a 4-2 win in Provident Bank Park. The Boulders scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning with a single from first baseman Cristobal Santana and a two-RBI double from catcher Scott Clement. Worcester scored in the top of the third inning and again in the seventh, but Rockland tacked on one more run in the bottom of the inning to seal the deal. Rockland had 11 total hits in the game, and Clement led with three hits, two RBI and one run in four at-bats. Santana also chipped in three hits, one RBI and one run for Rockland. Second baseman Alex Nunez was the only Tornado to record multiple hits, and he led Worcester with three hits, one RBI and one run in the game.
