Vermont Man Convicted in New York State Thruway Drug-Running Case


AllenRobinson.JPGRockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe today announced that Allen Robinson (DOB 11/11/56) of 75 Janet Circle, Burlington, Vermont was convicted after a jury trial of:

•One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, a class “A-II” Felony

•One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a class “B” Felony

•One count of Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a violation
On May 15, 2010, at approximately 2:05 am, Robinson was traveling on Interstate 87 (New York State Thruway) in South Nyack.

Following a routine traffic stop, a search of the defendant’s vehicle uncovered approximately 647 Oxycodone pills in a clear plastic bag. Robinson was also found to be in possession of marihuana. On July 13, 2011, testimony commenced before the Honorable William K. Nelson. On July 29, 2011, following three hours of deliberations, the jury returned a verdict of guilty on all three counts of the indictment.

Robinson faces up to ten years in state prison when he is sentenced on October 25, 2011. The case was prosecuted by Supervising Assistant District Attorney Dominic A. Crispino and Assistant District Attorney Patrick Fischer.
