Rockland County District Attorneys Office: Grand Larceny Plea


Dean Kaplanidis, age 41 of Pearl River, New York, pled guilty on May 9, 2011 to Grand Larceny in the 2nd Degree.

District Attorney, Thomas P. Zugibe stated that on or about and between July 17, 2007 and June 23, 2010, while the defendant was employed as a Financial Advisor at JP Morgan Chase & Company, the defendant stole approximately $119,000.00 from his client.

The defendant stole said money by stealing the identity of his client, creating a Chase checking account in the name of his client and obtaining an ATM debit card in his client’s name.  The defendant systematically made withdrawals from his client’s annuity account and then transferred the money into the checking account that he created.  The defendant made withdrawals in the sum of approximately $119,000.00. 

JP Morgan Chase Bank reimbursed the victim for the monies that were stolen byKaplanidis.

Kaplanidis was sentenced on July 25, 2011 by the Honorable Charles Apotheker, County Court Judge to one (1) year in the Rockland County Jail and a Civil Judgment of $184,054.50 was entered in favor of JP Morgan Chase Bank.
